If you have children 12 and under, you might want to check out the city of Winnipeg’s wading pools. These shallow pools are designed for kids to splash and play safely, and they are located in various parks and community centres across the city.

What You Need to Know About Wading Pools

  • Wading pools are free of charge for children 12 and under and their parent/guardian to enjoy, except where paid admission is required.
  • Wading pools have a maximum depth of 45 – 60 cm (18 – 24 inches). They are not suitable for swimming or diving.
  • Children under 7 years of age must have a parent or guardian 12 years of age or older actively supervising them at the pool.
  • Wading pools have rules for the safety and enjoyment of all participants. For example, no glass containers, no pets, no running or rough play, etc.
  • Wading pools may be closed throughout the day if any of the following conditions arise: bad weather, water quality issues, maintenance problems, etc. You can check the status of wading pools on the city’s website or by calling 311.
  • Wading pools are open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., unless otherwise posted. Some wading pools may have different hours or days of operation depending on the location and demand.
