Did you hear the good news? If you’re a senior, a military member, or a veteran living in Manitoba, you can fish for free anytime you want! How awesome is that? This is a way for the province to say thank you for everything you’ve done and to get you outside and having fun.
You don’t have to worry about getting a Manitoba Resident Senior Angling License this year if you’re 65 or older. And if you’re a military member or a veteran living in Manitoba, you don’t need an angling license either. You can just go ahead and enjoy fishing for free whenever you feel like it.

Safety comes first when you’re on the water. Make sure you follow the rules of boating, wear a life jacket, and watch out for any hazards. And don’t forget to be kind to the fish, especially in late spring when they’re spawning. Let them go as soon as you catch them so they can keep making more fish for us to catch later.
There are some new rules for fishing that started on April 1, 2023. They affect things like how many fish you can keep and how big they have to be for some species. You should check out the 2023 Manitoba Anglers’ Guide (CLICK HERE) for all the details. And one more thing: please help stop the spread of nasty aquatic invasive species by cleaning, draining, and drying your boat and gear and stopping at inspection stations when you move them around.
