Manitoba Reopens $300 Security Rebate Program: What to Know

A Fresh Chance for Safer Homes

Good news for Manitobans thinking about upgrading home security — the province has reopened its Security Rebate Program, offering up to $300 back for approved security upgrades.

The program was extremely popular the first time around and filled up fast. With new funding, residents now have another opportunity to apply and make their homes more secure.

What’s Covered

The rebate helps offset the cost of equipment like cameras, alarms, and reinforced doors or windows.

  • Maximum rebate: $300 (pre-tax) per household or rental unit
  • Eligible items include:
    • Security cameras and video doorbells
    • Alarm systems and motion detectors
    • Reinforced doors or windows
    • Smart locks and glass-break sensors
    • Protective shutters or fencing
  • Not covered: repairs, subscriptions, or labour not tied to installation

Who Can Apply

This current intake is open to homeowners and tenants (with landlord permission). A separate rebate program for small businesses is expected to launch later this year, giving business owners their own opportunity to apply for funding.

Applicants must include receipts, proof of address or ownership, and direct deposit info. Funding is first-come, first-served, so applying early makes a difference.

Quick Tips

  • Plan ahead: Combine upgrades to reach the $300 cap.
  • Keep receipts clear: Take photos before submitting.
  • Apply early: Funding goes quickly.
  • Double-check eligibility: Only approved equipment counts.

Why It Matters

This rebate makes home security upgrades more affordable and helps create safer neighborhoods across Manitoba. It’s a simple way to protect property and bring more peace of mind to families — without spending a fortune.
