Winnipeg Spray Pads Are Open for Summer 2026

If your kids are already asking to go swimming every five minutes, there’s finally some good news: Winnipeg spray pads are officially opening for the season.

The City began rolling them out on Monday, May 25, and expects most locations to be running daily by Friday, May 29 (except Boyd Park, which opens July 2).

Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily (until Sept. 7)

Cost: Free

Across the city, families can take advantage of splash pads, fountains, and dumping buckets. Some popular spots to check out include:

  • Central Park
  • Crescentwood Spray Pad
  • Linden Woods Spray Pad
  • Valley Gardens Spray Pad
  • River Heights Spray Pad
  • Gateway Recreation Centre
  • St. Norbert Spray Pad
  • Waverley Heights Spray Pad

Outdoor Pools Open in June

If your family prefers actual swimming over quick splash-pad pit stops, outdoor pool season is right around the corner.

Heated Pools: Open Friday, June 19, 2026 (except Fort Garry Lions).

Unheated Pools & Fort Garry Lions: Open Friday, June 26, 2026.

All outdoor pools operate daily, weather permitting. The City’s Outdoor Pool Season Pass is available for unlimited admission to heated pools all summer long.

Passes can be purchased at:

  • Pan Am Pool
  • Fort Rouge Leisure Centre
  • 395 Main Street

Wading pools will begin opening gradually on Wednesday, July 1. Because openings are staggered by location, it is best to check the city schedule online before heading out.

Quick Tips Before You Go

  • Supervision: Most spray pads are unsupervised.
  • Footwear: Water shoes are highly recommended.
  • Amenities: Shade and washroom access vary by site.
  • Towels: Bring them even if the kids swear they won't get wet.

The Bottom Line

Not every summer activity needs to turn into a $100 outing. Throwing some towels in the trunk and letting the kids burn off energy for two hours is one of the best free ways to spend a summer afternoon.

And after the winter Winnipeg just had, everyone has earned it.
