4th Annual Pumpkin Drop
Date: November 2, 10 AM – 3 PM
Venue: CF Polo Park, 1485 Portage Ave
Compost Winnipeg and CF Polo Park are hosting the 4th Annual Pumpkin Drop, inviting Winnipeggers to compost their Jack-o’-lanterns by dropping them into a collection truck from the 2nd level of the parkade. This event aims to reduce the immense amount of organic waste from pumpkins, which often end up in landfills. The event is free, but donations are welcome to support compost collection services for local non-profits. Previous events have successfully diverted over 78,826 kg of pumpkins from landfills, with thousands of attendees participating.

Permaculture Workshops will continue at Spirit Park until the snow flies. Join Traditional Ecological Permaculture Gardener Audrey Logan to learn about topics such as transplanting, mulching, pruning and winter seeding.

The free group hikes offer a delightful way for participants to explore Manitoba’s scenic parks. Led by CPAWS staff who share their passion for nature, these hikes are designed to be casual and enjoyable, with no formal lectures. Although the staff are not formally trained park interpreters, they are happy to answer questions during water and snack breaks. For those interested in more structured learning, outdoor learning programs or interpretive events by Manitoba Parks are recommended. The hikes are moderately challenging, typically lasting around two hours
