Calling all Winnipeggers! The Turtle Island Neighbourhood Centre is throwing a free block party on Saturday, June 29th, 2024, from noon to 9 pm, and you're invited!
This family-friendly event promises a day packed with music, delicious food, and exciting activities. Here's what you can look forward to:
Free Concert: Enjoy live music throughout the day, featuring local talents like Wanda Wilson, Tayller Peltier, and Orvis.
Free BBQ: Savor some tasty treats at the complimentary BBQ.
Fun Activities: Explore the vibrant Indigenous Marketplace showcasing unique crafts (open 1 pm to 8 pm). Capture the moment with a free printed photo from The SnapFox Photo Booth (open 1 pm to 8 pm). Get your hair braided in a traditional style (available 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm).

Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Sabe Peacewalkers will ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy the festivities.
Evening Entertainment: Don't miss the exciting prize draw at 8:45 pm and a chance to win a PlayStation 5 at the raffle draw at 9 pm (tickets $2 each). Dance the night away to live DJ sets starting at 8 pm.
Showcasing Indigenous Culture:
The Turtle Island Block Party celebrates Indigenous culture. Witness a captivating Powwow demonstration featuring Anishinaabe Voice, Buffalo Red Thunder, and talented dancers from Ma Mawi's Powwow Club (3 pm).

The Winnipeg Police Museum offers free admission and features artifacts dating back to the late 1800s, vintage vehicles and motorcycles, and stories highlighting the history and service of the Winnipeg Police Service, located at 245 Smith Street and open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
WAG Wednesday Nights offers free admission every Wednesday evening from 5:00–9:00 PM at WAG-Qaumajuq, starting January 2026, with live music, interactive activities, and rotating cultural programming in the heart of downtown Winnipeg.
Cabin Fever: Free Films for Kids! returns this winter with free Sunday screenings at the David Barber Cinematheque. Families can enjoy beloved classics and animated favourites from January 4 to February 22.
Learn to Winter at The Forks runs every weekend from January to February with free activities celebrating Winnipeg’s winter spirit. Enjoy DJs on Ice, skating lessons, storytelling, wellness classes, and more at locations throughout The Forks, weather permitting.
