The City of Winnipeg is hosting its annual Compost Giveaway, offering residents a chance to acquire free, high-quality compost to enrich their gardens this spring. This event celebrates the city's yard waste collection program, transforming residents' contributions of grass clippings, leaves, and twigs into nutrient-rich compost.
Details for the City of Winnipeg Compost Giveaway:
Dates: May 10 to 12
Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Locations:
1901 Brady Rd. (adjacent to Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot)
Kilcona Dog Park, west parking lot off McIvor Avenue (queue on Norris Road, south of McIvor Avenue)
Summit Road closed landfill site, north of Optimist Park

This exclusive event serves as a thank you to Winnipeg residents for their commitment to sustainable practices and keeping the city clean and green.
Important Notes:
- Open to Winnipeg residents only.
- Residents must bring their own containers, shovels, and gloves.
- The limit is 100 litres per vehicle (approximately five 19-litre/five-gallon pails).
- Trailers are not permitted.
- Only one vehicle can approach each compost pile at a time.
