Don’t miss First Fridays at The Manitoba Museum, a vibrant cultural evening happening on Friday, August 2 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm! This monthly event offers free admission to all three of the museum’s main attractions: the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery.

Manidoo Miinniigooizowin, A Gift from the Creator

Discovery Room & Welcome Gallery – 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Featuring objects representing the 34 Southern Chiefs’ Organization member Nations, this exhibition is a celebration of the past, present, and future. The objects on display exemplify the beauty and resilience of the Anishinaabe and Dakota peoples and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Southern Chiefs’ Organization. 

Special Screening – The Science Of Star Wars: Man And Machine

Auditorium – 6:00pm/7:00pm/8:00pm 

Join us for a special screening of episode 1 of the 2005 miniseries, “The Science of Star Wars.” Curious about the real science behind the Star Wars films? This miniseries dives into real world examples of what you see in the popular films. Runtime – 50 minutes.

Relax and Learn at the Winnipeg Gallery Theatre

Head to the Winnipeg Gallery Theatre at First Fridays at The Manitoba Museum to settle in for a screening of the Rainbow Resource Centre’s 50th Anniversary Documentary, playing continuously throughout the evening alongside the Winnipeg Timeline Film. This comfortable setting provides a unique chance to learn about the city’s past.

Unleash Your Inner Scientist at the Science Gallery

For the curious minds, the Science Gallery at First Fridays at The Manitoba Museum awaits! Get hands-on with interactive exhibits that bring the wonders of science and technology to life. Crowd favorites include the mind-bending Matrix mirror room, the pulley chairs that test your teamwork, and the thrilling racetrack.

Gaze at the Stars in the Planetarium

Throughout the evening at First Fridays at The Manitoba Museum, the Planetarium will offer stargazing shows every half hour starting at 4:30 pm. With the last show starting at 8:30 pm, it’s the perfect way to end your visit beneath a projected summer sky.
