2024 ANNUAL BONSAI DISPLAY
Every year, the Bonsai Society of Winnipeg showcases the impressive collections of its members. All club members are encouraged to participate, regardless of the duration of their bonsai training. Even trees from the recent Introduction to Growing Bonsai course are welcome.
The slideshow above features trees and companion plants from the 2022 Exhibit, captured by Scott Samson.
Our 2024 Show will take place on:
Among the trees on display are both native Manitoba species that reflect the Canadian landscape and exotic tropical varieties from distant lands such as the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, China, or India.
Many of the Club members have been cultivating their bonsai for only a few years, resulting in relatively young trees. However, the exhibit also includes a handful of venerable old treasures that have been carefully trained for over a century. These Canadian trees, collected from harsh environments that naturally stunted their growth, are a testament to the art of bonsai.
While the age of a bonsai is certainly a fascinating aspect, it is the artistic expression of the trees that truly creates a profound bonsai experience.
