Event Description

Celebrate Canada Day in Selkirk with a full day of free family-friendly activities at the Waterfront on Wednesday, July 1. The annual celebration features live entertainment, children's attractions, a makers market, educational experiences, and one of the Interlake's biggest fireworks displays.
Families can enjoy the Kids Zone from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Glitter Bug Glitter Tattoos, Kurrent Motion Hoop Jam, Bubble Barn, Mr. Squiggly, and the City of Selkirk's Block Party Trailer filled with games. The Tales & Trails storybook walk featuring Raven's Ribbons will also be available near the Selkirk Park Pool entrance, while the pool and splash pad remain open during the celebration.
Entertainment begins at 4:15 PM with The Broken Binders, followed by Darren Lavallee at 4:50 PM, Hold on Surely at 6:00 PM, Juno Award-winning entertainer Al Simmons at 7:15 PM, Mach 10 at 8:30 PM, and Les Barn Boys closing the evening at 10:00 PM.
Visitors can also browse the Bud and Bloom Makers Market from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, featuring 100% handmade goods from local makers while enjoying an evening of music, food, and community celebrations along the Waterfront.
The celebration concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 11:00 PM. Please note that the Blue Bridge will be closed from 10:30 PM to 11:30 PM during the fireworks.
Selkirk Transit will operate free of charge from 5:00 PM until after the fireworks. Accessible parking is available at the corner of Eveline Street and Superior Avenue with a valid accessible parking permit, while visitors are also encouraged to walk or cycle using the city's Active Transportation pathways and bike racks.
