Vaughan Street Jail: Untold Stories of the First Provincial Gaol (1881)

221 Memorial Boulevard

May 30th, 2026 & May 31st, 2026

Saturday: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Sunday: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Only open for 2 days a year for this special event!! Visit Winnipeg’s very own Victorian gaol and hear true crime stories about rapscallions, bootleggers, soiled doves and murderers.

Stand in cells that held the undesirables from the Winnipeg General Strike, the infamous Gorilla Strangler, solitary confinement and more!

For 50 years this building and the people who passed through it changed both local and Canadian history for the good and the bad.

Join us for this unique experience and discover Winnipeg’s darker side of history!

Commemorate your visit with a jail t-shirt, books and more!

Please note this event is best suited for ages 12 and over.

Guided tours will run causally throughout the day. No registration required!
