The Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex indoor pool is finally reopening on Sunday, April 2, 2023! It’s been a long wait, but the mechanical repairs and upgrades have been completed, making the pool safer and more enjoyable for the community.
Thanks to the Council-approved Recreation and Library Facility Investment Strategy, which invested $50 million into facility improvements over three years, the upgrades to the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex were made possible. The cost of the upgrades is approximately $1.55 million, which included the replacement of fire dampers and the building’s air handling unit.
The reopening of the pool is not just about enjoying the water; it’s about the stories of our neighborhoods being written. As John Orlikow, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services, said, facilities like the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex are essential resources that bring communities together.

Cindy Gilroy, Councillor for Daniel McIntyre, echoes this sentiment, stating that the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex is a vital resource and community hub for residents. The pool’s closure also allowed for recruitment and training of lifeguards, which means more aquatic program offerings and a safer pool experience.
The Recreation and Library Facility Investment Strategy is a fantastic initiative by the Council, ensuring that these essential assets are maintained for generations to come. The reopening of the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex indoor pool is an exciting development that showcases the Council’s commitment to the community’s safety and well-being. Let’s all grab our swimsuits and dive into the pool!
The free swim times will be on Saturdays starting April 8. Free swim for everybody at 2:30 PM β 6:00 PM. Free teen swim at 6:30 PM β 9:45 PM.
