If you or someone you know is looking to break into the welding and metal fabrication world, here’s an awesome opportunity. The Winnipeg Industrial Skills Training Centre (WISTC) is offering a FREE 6-month training program for Manitobans who qualify. Yep, you read that right—free training!

What’s on Offer:

Training starts July 14, 2025, and it’s a great chance to get hands-on experience with the skills that are in demand across industries. With over 42 years of experience, WISTC’s training program can set you up for success in the world of welding and metal fabrication.

Who Can Apply?

WISTC is offering two programs, so there’s something for everyone who meets the eligibility criteria:

  • Unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week.

  • An active or former EI claimant in the last 60 months.

  • Over 18 years old and able to perform basic math and English tasks at a Grade 10 level.

2. REDI Program

  • On Employment & Income Assistance (EIA) or at risk of depending on it.

  • Over 18 years old and working less than 20 hours per week.

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Why Is This a Great Opportunity?

With more than 42 years of experience, WISTC is well-known for its quality training. The instructors aren’t just teachers—they bring real-world industry experience to the table. Plus, the facility has a history of working with local businesses on custom metal fabrication, which is a huge plus when it comes to finding job opportunities.

How Do You Apply?

If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in, there’s still time to apply! Applications are open now, and training starts in July 2025.
