A new youth safe space, Ombishkaawak Migiziwak (Rising Eagles), was launched by Community Helpers Unite in December. This welcoming environment operates from 6 PM to 6 AM, Thursday through Sunday, offering an array of supportive services. Youth can enjoy hot meals, activities, harm reduction supplies, and a warm, safe place to spend time. Additionally, a variety of resources are accessible to those who visit.

Thursday – Sunday, 6 PM – 6 AM


House Rules:

  • No Drugs or Alcohol on Site
  • Honour System: Weapons and paraphernalia will be held at the door
  • Zero Tolerance for Violence: Physical or otherwise
  • Respect and Kindness: Treat others and staff with respect

What’s Offered:

  • A Safe Environment: A place for youth to feel welcome, respected, and engaged
  • Culturally Appropriate Programs: Evening programs designed to build youth’s capacity for independence and self-advocacy
  • Healing Opportunities: Regular sharing circles and outings for land-based healing and education
  • Mentorship & Counselling: Auntie/Kookum-style support
  • Volunteer Opportunities: For Action Therapy Workers and Youth
