Dr. English’s presentation will show how various visualizations of galaxies illuminates astronomical processes – such as star formation, magnetic fields, and galactic collisions – that change these gravitationally bound collections of stars, gas, dust and dark matter.

Her talk will review our understanding of galaxy evolution, and developments in astronomical visualization techniques through the lens of her distinguished career in both areas.

Ice cream in the middle of winter? There’s never a bad time for it! Chaeban has generously reserved a large table seating 12 for game nights, allowing up to three games at once. Space is limited, so RSVPs are mandatory, and attendees are asked to confirm only if they’re certain they can attend. No-shows may be placed on a waitlist for future events if space becomes tight. The group is shifting to a “donate what you can” model instead of a mandatory fee. For non-ice cream lovers, Chaeban also offers a variety of delicious drinks, including chai tea lattes.
