To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the Winnipeg Police Service, Winnipeg Fringe Festival, and Exchange District Biz provides enhanced security measures and practical safety tips.

Winnipeg Police Service officers and cadets will be patrolling the area throughout the festival, but here’s some tips from the WPS to take proactive steps to protect yourself and your belongings.

  • Carry a personal alarm: A loud alarm can deter potential threats.
  • Stick to familiar routes: Plan your journey and avoid unfamiliar areas.
  • Choose well-lit areas: Walk confidently in well-lit spaces.

  • Secure your belongings: Avoid carrying purses with straps and opt for hands-free bags.

Protect Your Vehicle for a Safe and Secure Winnipeg Fringe

For added security, consider using the supervised bike rack at the Pantages Playhouse courtyard (180 Market Ave.) from 10am to 12:30am. Public, unsupervised bike racks are also available at Old Market Square. Remember to always lock your bike securely.

Exchange District Safety Patrol

The Exchange District Biz operates a safety patrol. These trained professionals can help with safety concerns, panhandling, and other issues. They also offer safe walk escorts. The Exchange Patrol is available from 8am to 4pm on Mondays and 8am to 12am from Tuesday to Saturday.
