Learn to Winter @ The Forks

  • Storytelling in the Teepee | Sundays from 12 PM – 4 PM
    • Join Elder Barbara Nepinak around the fire in the teepee for stories and drumming.
  •  Warming Hut Tours | Saturdays at 1 PM (start date later in January, stay tuned!)
    • These tours will give participants the opportunity to explore and learn more about the six new Warming Huts at The Forks, plus other fan favourites from previous winters. Check back for a registration link for these free tours!

Winterruption Round Dance

Venue: Canadian Museum for Human Rights, 85 Israel Esper Way

Cost details: Free. No registration is required, but seating capacity is only 400; families are encouraged to arrive early. Paid parking is available near the Museum.

Warm up a cold Winnipeg night by joining us for the 2nd annual Winterruption Round Dance. A partnership of sākihiwē festival, the West End Cultural Centre and the CMHR, the evening includes a pipe ceremony starting at 5 p.m., a feast at 6 p.m. and song from 7 p.m.-10:30 p.m. featuring stickman Darryl Buck and a range of singers.

Skate the Oval

We’re inviting you to skate with us on the oval, which is the only long track speed skating oval in the city. How cool is that? You can also try out some speed skates, test your speed with the radar gun, sip some hot chocolate, groove to some tunes, and watch some amazing speed skaters show off their skills. And guess what?
