The First Section of the Skating River Trail At The Forks Is Open

Skaters can now glide further than before along the Nestaweya River Trail at The Forks. Officials announced on Saturday that the trail now extends three kilometres down the Assiniboine River from The Forks Port Rink all the way to Hugo Docks.

Starting next week, the river trail crew will focus their efforts on the Red River, aiming to extend the trail toward the Norwood Bridge and beyond.

The Forks is reminding the public to stick to the marked trail, as their team only tests ice on the official trail. Stick to the marked sections and check updates on ice conditions before heading out. Bundle up, wear good gear, and skate smart. For real-time info, visit theforks.com/skate.
