Experience a Partial Solar Eclipse in Winnipeg with Safe Viewing Options

The Manitoba Museum, Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Winnipeg Centre and Assiniboine Park Conservancy are hosting a free Solar Eclipse Viewing Party on Monday, April 8th! This exciting event offers two ways for enthusiasts to witness this celestial phenomenon:

Attend the Viewing Party: Join us at The Leaf in Assiniboine Park from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. View the eclipse safely through special solar telescopes provided by the RASC.
Watch the Livestream: Can’t make it to the park? Catch the eclipse live on Dome@Home’s Facebook or Youtube channel from 12:30 pm to 3:15 pm. In case of cloudy skies in Winnipeg, the stream will switch to a clear location elsewhere in Canada.

Witness the Sun Partially Obscured by the Moon

On April 8th, North America will experience a partial solar eclipse, where the moon partially covers the sun, casting a shadow on Earth. This event provides a rare opportunity to observe the sun safely with proper precautions.

Safety First: Secure Your Solar Eclipse Glasses

Looking directly at the sun, even during an eclipse, can cause permanent eye damage. To ensure safe viewing, the Manitoba Museum Shop offers certified solar eclipse glasses for purchase at $3 per pair (discounts available for bulk orders). Glasses will also be available for purchase on-site at the Museum Shop and Reception Desk.
