Midwinter Park Bison Statue
May 29th, 2022
Sunday: 1:00pm
Located on the east side of the Red River, Nairn Avenue runs east/west off Stadacona Street at the Louise Bridge. It became the first commercial and business area in north east Winnipeg in 1880’s – 1890’s, when the area was still part of St. Boniface. Some of the features of this walking tour will be the colorful La Salle Hotel, the docks for the River Rouge, the Lady Winnipeg river boats and a circa 1900 bank. We will reveal locations where there were blacksmiths (with a special guest speaker) livery stables, a billiard club, a legion and the Mineral Springs Sanitarium of Winnipeg.
Please note the tour is wheelchair accessible but sidewalks may be in poor condition and challenging to navigate.
