First Fridays @ the Manitoba Museum – July 4, 2025

The Manitoba Museum is excited to partner with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to present First Fridays programming!

On the first Friday of every month from 4 PM to 9 PM, enjoy free general admission to the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and Science Gallery—no ticket required unless otherwise stated.

NEW EXHIBIT: I Belong Here (Urban Corridor – 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM)

Created by Indigenous Scholar in Residence Lucy Lindell, this beadwork and digital art exhibit transforms the Manitoba Museum’s architecture into teachings rooted in Indigenous knowledge and lived experience.

The Museum Collection Illuminated (Discovery Room – 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM)

View fascinating and unusual artifacts from the Museum’s vaults—like a Giant Puffball mushroom, an ornate bison horn chair, a 500 BCE wine pitcher, and more—each hand-selected by curators for its unique story.

Button Making with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries (Welcome Gallery – 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM)

Drop by to colour and create your own Manitoba Museum button to take home.

Guest Scientists: Living Laboratory (Earth History Gallery – 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM)

Join U of M researchers in hands-on studies and games exploring how children think and learn.

🔬 Science Gallery

Hands-on Fun in the Science Gallery (4:00 PM to 9:00 PM)

Experience interactive activities in science and technology. Try the giant Lite Bright wall and experiment with illusions and hands-on displays.

Guest Scientists: Child Thinking and Reasoning Lab (4:00 PM to 9:00 PM)

Researchers from U of W invite kids aged 3–7 to play math games and explore how they reason about tricky concepts.

🌌 Planetarium

4:30 PM – 8:30 PM (shows every half hour, last show at 8:30 PM)

Enjoy immersive shows about constellations, planets, and the cosmos in the Manitoba Museum’s Planetarium dome.
