Explore the Narcisse Snake Dens!

A group hike is planned to the famous Narcisse Snake Dens, home to the world's largest concentration of garter snakes. In spring and fall, thousands of red-sided garter snakes gather here, creating a fascinating natural spectacle. This is a casual outdoor event to meet new people and enjoy nature, not a guided interpretive hike.

  • Accessibility: Stroller-friendly gravel paths, not recommended for wheelchairs.
  • Dogs: Allowed on leash.

  • Free parking, picnic area, and bathrooms available.

How to Get There:

  • Take Highway 7 north, turn left at Teulon onto Highway 17, follow past Inwood, then follow signs for Narcisse Snake Dens.

Group Hike Experience:

This hike is a great way to explore Manitoba’s nature, enjoy light conversation, and connect with others. CPAWS staff will be present but are not trained park interpreters. Most hikes take about 90 minutes and are moderately challenging.

Events proceed in most weather conditions, but cancellations may occur due to storms or hazardous roads. Registrants will receive email updates if changes are necessary.
