Kids Bowl Free Returns for Summer 2026

Honestly, if you’re already staring at the calendar wondering how to keep the kids from climbing the walls this summer without spending a fortune, Kids Bowl Free is back for 2026 and it’s a total lifesaver.

I’m just a local sharing the wealth—I don’t work for the alleys or the program—but as someone who’s survived a few “sticky” Winnipeg July afternoons, this is basically the ultimate summer hack. Here’s the lowdown for our neck of the woods.

What’s the Deal? (The “Too Good to be True” Part)

Once you’re signed up, your kids get two free games of bowling every single day all summer. It’s perfect for those days when the mosquitoes are the size of hummingbirds or when it’s raining sideways and the park is a no-go.

We’ve got a solid lineup of participating alleys right here in Winnipeg, so you’re probably only a short drive (or a long construction detour) away from a lane.

How to Get in on It

  • Scoot over to the Kids Bowl Free website.
  • Pick your “home” alley. Heads up: You have to choose one specific spot (like Dakota or Rossmere), and the coupons only work there.
  • Register the crew.
  • Grab the Kids Bowl Free App. While you can still print out the weekly email coupons, most of our local spots would much rather just scan the code off your phone. It saves you from fumbling with paper while trying to tie a toddler’s bowling shoes.

A Few “Pro Tips” From the Trenches

I’ve seen how this goes, so here’s the “fine print” in plain English:

  • The Shoe Situation: The games are free, but rentals usually aren't. Every house has its own vibe—some might let you bring your own, but most charge a small fee.
  • The “60-Minute” Rule: Places like Dakota Lanes can get packed, so they often cap lane time at an hour to keep the line moving. It’s fair, but good to know before you promise the kids a three-hour marathon.
  • Timing is Everything: Check the hours! A few spots, like Polo Park, usually keep the free games to the afternoon (think 12 PM – 5 PM).
  • Keep it Casual: These passes are for “fam jam” time only. You can't use them for birthday parties, daycares, or organized groups.
  • The “Parent Pass”: If you want to show 'em how it's done, you can grab a Family Pass for about $35–$45. It covers up to four adults for the whole summer. If you go more than twice, you’ve already saved money.

Where Are We Bowling?

Winnipeg has six spots in the mix for 2026:

  • Chateau Lanes (1145 Nairn Ave)
  • Dakota Lanes (1085 St. Mary's Rd)
  • Park Alleys (730 Osborne St)
  • Polo Park Bowling Centre (1485 Portage Ave)
  • Rossmere Lanes (1042 Henderson Hwy)
  • St. James Lanes (1805 Portage Ave) — Pro tip: This one is 5-pin, which is way easier for the little ones to handle.

Don't Sleep on This!

Registration is open right now. Even though we're still probably dealing with “Second Winter,” summer will be here before you know it.

It’s an easy, cheap way to build some fun traditions and maybe—just maybe—get through August with your sanity intact.

See you at the lanes!
