UNIQLO Grand Opening in Winnipeg

Winnipeg, the wait is officially over. If you’ve been walking past those giant barricades at CF Polo Park wondering when we’d finally get our own UNIQLO, mark your calendars for May 15, 2026.

No more paying for shipping or begging friends in Toronto to mule a suitcase full of basics back for you. We finally have our own spot right here at home.

Here’s the lowdown on how to navigate the opening weekend without losing your mind—and hopefully scoring some free stuff while you’re at it.

Opening Morning: Friday, May 15

If you’re the type who doesn't mind an early wake-up call for a good perk, Friday is your day. They’re doing a “Morning Cheer” event that’s actually pretty cool because it features some local legends.

The Early Bird Special
From 9:10 AM to 9:35 AM, the first 300 people in line get a free breakfast. We’re talking cookies from Gunn's Bakery and coffee from Little Sister. It’s a nice “Welcome to Winnipeg” move. No purchase is required, but you’ll want to be there well before 9:00 if you want a shot.

Opening Day Highlights

The Vibe
At 9:40 AM, Hinode Taiko is doing a live drumming performance. If you’ve never seen them, they’re incredible and will definitely wake you up.

The Tote
Doors swing open at 10:00 AM, and the first 500 people through get an exclusive CF Polo Park tote bag.

Weekend Perks (Friday–Sunday)

If you can't sneak away from work on Friday morning, you can still snag some loot throughout the weekend:

The Mug
If you end up doing some damage to your wallet and spend $99 (pre-tax), they’re giving away those viral-style handle travel mugs with the straws. The colors are random, so it's luck of the draw.

The Garapon Game
This is a fun one. From 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM every day (Fri–Sun), app members get one free spin on a traditional Japanese lottery wheel called Garapon. You don’t have to buy anything to play, so it’s worth a stop just to see if you win a prize.

Store Hours & What to Expect

The store is right in Polo, so expect the parking lot to be its usual chaotic self. Since it’s Victoria Day weekend, keep an eye on these hours:

  • Friday: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Sunday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Monday (Victoria Day): 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

My Take

Let’s be real—Winnipeggers love a good deal and we really love high-quality gear that survives a -30°C windchill. Finally having local access to HEATTECH for our winters and AIRism for those sticky July days is a game changer.

It's going to be a zoo that first weekend, so if you’re eyeing those freebies, definitely get there early. Otherwise, maybe grab a coffee and just enjoy the fact that we don't have to fly to Vancouver for a decent pair of $50 jeans anymore. See you there!
