Discover the Winnipeg Christmas Map

If you’re the kind of person who loves driving around Winnipeg in December just to see which neighbourhoods go all out with lights, you’re going to want to bookmark this. The Winnipeg Christmas Map is back — and this year it’s bigger, brighter, and even easier to use.

This growing community tradition was created by Winnipeg local Carol Cassell, who wanted a simple way for families to find the best holiday displays without endless scrolling or guesswork. Thanks to her work (and the many Winnipeggers who submit locations), the map now helps thousands discover the most magical lit-up homes every Christmas season.

🎅 What Exactly Is the Winnipeg Christmas Map?

It’s a community-updated holiday lights map showing beautifully decorated homes all across Winnipeg. Every pin on the map helps you know exactly what kind of display you’re driving toward — and this year, the icons are better than ever:

⭐ Star Pins
The brightest, boldest, most decked-out displays in Winnipeg — the ones that make you stop the car and say “WOW.”

🎄 Tree Pins
Moderately decorated homes with lots of lights and festive touches.

🎁 Gift Pins
Lightly decorated homes, perfect for filling out your route with smaller displays.

🎵 Music Pins
Houses with full light shows synchronized to music — a must-see for Christmas lights fans.

No fees, no registration — just holiday magic mapped out for you.

Why Winnipeggers Love It

✔ Perfect for families — kids love trying to spot the next glowing pin on the map.
✔ Amazing for holiday date nights — hot chocolate, playlists, and glittering streets.
✔ Great for spontaneous outings — choose a neighbourhood and follow the lights.
✔ A true community project — Carol created it, but Winnipeggers keep it going by sending in displays every day.

📨 Want Your Home Added to the Map? Here’s How

If you’ve decorated your house and want it added, you can:

When submitting your display, please include:

  • Your address
  • A photo (NO videos)
  • The time your display turns off each night
  • If you have a walk-through display
  • Anything else you want people to know

➡️ Only homes currently ready for viewing are added.
If your display will be finished in a week or two, email again when it’s ready.

Make a Night of It & Final Thoughts

🚗 Make a Whole Night of It

Here’s the perfect setup for exploring:

  • Turn on your favourite Christmas playlist
  • Use the map to create a custom route

It’s simple, cozy, and totally free — a little tradition that makes winter in Winnipeg feel warmer.

The Winnipeg Christmas Map is one of those small but magical things that bring the city together every winter. Huge shoutout to Carol Cassell, whose work keeps this project running year after year — and to every Winnipegger who adds their home to help spread holiday cheer.

Bundle up, stay warm, and enjoy the lights this season. Winnipeg shines brightest when the community builds the magic together. ✨
