🎃 Best Free Events for Kids in Winnipeg This Weekend

Looking for fun and free things to do with kids in Winnipeg this weekend? The city is bursting with family-friendly Halloween fun, creative workshops, and cozy movie nights happening all weekend long. Whether your kids love dancing, crafting, or watching a spooky flick with popcorn, there’s something for everyone — and it’s all free!

Friday, October 17

Halloween Family Dance

Time: 7–9 PM
Location: Tyndall Park Community School Gym, 2221 King Edward Street

Get those costumes ready! Families are invited to a free Halloween dance filled with music, prizes, and treats. Prizes for the best costumes and a snack bar for purchase. Donations of children’s winter wear for the NorthWest Bear Clan Patrol are welcome.

Family Movie Night: Lilo & Stitch

Time: 6 PM
Location: Fort Garry Community Centre (Hobson Site), 880 Oakenwald Avenue

The Fort Garry Community Centre transforms into a family movie night featuring Lilo & Stitch. Doors open at 6 PM — grab a slice of pizza and enjoy this cozy evening together!

Wicked Movie Night

Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Riverview Community Centre, 90 Ashland Avenue

A spellbinding evening awaits with a free screening of Wicked. Doors open at 6 PM, movie at 6:30 PM. Admission is free, with chips and candy available at the canteen.

Movie & Craft Night: Beetlejuice

Time: Doors 6:30 PM, Movie 7 PM
Location: Deer Lodge Community Club, 323 Bruce Avenue

Kids can enjoy a leaf-making craft before watching the family-friendly Halloween classic Beetlejuice. The canteen will be open for snacks (cash only).

Saturday, October 18

Halloween Family Art Afternoon

Time: 2–4 PM
Location: Transcona Library, 1 Transcona Boulevard

Drop in for a creative afternoon at Transcona Library. Families can explore art supplies, make spooky crafts, and show off their Halloween spirit. Costumes are welcome!

Halloween at the Hill

Time: 6 PM
Location: Birds Hill Provincial Park

Help Dr. Frankenstein build a new creature while exploring the park’s wildlife! Enjoy crafts, a haunted forest, a bonfire, and hayrides (small fee). Costumes and flashlights encouraged.

Sunday, October 19

Spook & Spice Market

Time: 10 AM–3 PM
Location: Greendell Park Community Centre, 75 Woodlawn Avenue

Shop over 30 vendors and enjoy a special appearance by Maleficent (11 AM–1 PM) and free face painting (1–3 PM). Perfect for kids and families to enjoy some Halloween spirit!

Trunk or Treat

Time: 4–6 PM
Location: Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Avenue

Costumes, candy, and cotton candy — plus a scavenger hunt, crafts, bouncers, and hot dogs! This safe and fun trick-or-treat event is perfect for families with young kids.

East End Community Club Free Movie Night

Time: 3–5 PM
Location: East End Community Club, 517 Pandora Avenue East

The East End Community Club’s free movie series continues this weekend. The featured film will be announced soon — bring the whole family for a cozy afternoon showing!
