Cartown: A Fun and Educational Program for Kids in Winnipeg

Cartown is Back in Winnipeg — And It’s the Cutest Way to Teach Your Kids Road Safety This Summer

If you’re already wondering how you’ll keep your little ones busy (and off screens) this summer, here’s something adorable and surprisingly educational: Cartown is officially open for registration in Winnipeg!

Cartown is kind of like a mini version of the city — built just for kids. It’s designed for children aged 4 to 7, and it’s all about learning road safety through play. We're talking real street signs, a miniature gas station, a tiny library, and even a bank — all packed into the Sam Southern Arena at 625 Osborne Street. Think of it as a kid-sized city, with motorized toy vehicles instead of traffic jams and honking.

So, what exactly happens at Cartown?

Each session is a mix of fun and education. Kids hop into their very own ride (yep, motorized toy cars!), cruise around the town, and learn things like pedestrian safety, road signs, and how to be cautious around traffic. And to top it off, they even get a “driver’s license” at the end. How cute is that?

Oh — and if you’ve got a little sibling tagging along, kids under 4 can ride passenger-style for free. 🙌

Cartown runs Wednesday to Sunday, from June 5 to August 2, so there’s plenty of time to fit it into your summer plans.

How much does it cost?

  • $14.00 for Winnipeg residents
  • $28.00 for non-residents
  • $2 00 Discount for six or more kids

You’ll need to register in advance, and spots can go quickly — especially once word gets out. You can sign up through leisureONLINE or call 311 for help.

Also, if you’re budget-conscious like me, take a peek at the Priceless Fun brochure — it lists all kinds of free and low-cost summer programs and drop-in activities around the city.
