Honoring Our Heroes: Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Winnipeg and Manitoba

November 11, 2024, marks a significant day in Canada as we come together to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served our country during times of war, conflict, and peace. Across Winnipeg and Manitoba, various ceremonies and events are planned to pay homage to our veterans and fallen soldiers.

Winnipeg Ceremonies

● RBC Convention Centre: The largest Remembrance Day ceremony in Manitoba will be held at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., with the service starting at 10:40 a.m.. This event typically draws thousands of attendees and is a powerful way to show our collective respect and gratitude.

● St. James Legion No. 4: Located at 1755 Portage Ave., the St. James Legion will host a ceremony at Bruce Park at 10:45 a.m.. The event will also be held at the Legion in the afternoon.

● Oak Park High School: The Charleswood Legion will organize a ceremony at Oak Park High School (820 Charleswood Rd.) from 10:25 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. A Canadian veteran who served in Afghanistan will be the guest speaker.

● Portage Legion No. 65: In Portage la Prairie, the Portage Legion will hold its ceremony at Stride Place (245 Royal Rd. S) at 11 a.m.. Organizers recommend arriving by 10:30 a.m. to secure a seat.

● Norwood St. Boniface Legion Branch 43: The ceremony will take place at the Legion, with doors opening at 10 a.m. and the service starting at 11 a.m..

● Transcona Legion Branch 7: The Transcona Legion will host a public service at the East End Arena (517 Pandora Ave. E) at 11 a.m..

● Henderson Legion Branch 215: This ceremony will be held at Eastview Community Church (315 Maxwell King Dr.) starting at 10:50 a.m..

● Prince Edward Legion Branch 81: The service will be held at St. Alphonsus Hall (341 Munroe Ave.) starting at 10:45 a.m., followed by lunch at the Legion and live entertainment.
