Cartown: A Fun and Educational Program for Kids in Winnipeg

If you are looking for a unique and engaging activity for your kids this summer, you might want to check out Cartown, a program offered by the City of Winnipeg that teaches children about driving safety in a realistic town setting.

Cartown is designed for children 4–7 years old who want to learn about road rules, traffic signs, pedestrian safety and more. Each session includes games, songs and road safety instruction. At the end of each session, the participants receive a driver’s license as a souvenir.

Cartown is hosted at Sam Southern Arena, where a miniature version of Winnipeg is set up with streets, sidewalks, buildings and vehicles. The children can drive around the town in electric cars that are equipped with seat belts, horns and headlights. They can also play on the play structure or ride as passengers in cars driven by their siblings. The program is supervised by trained staff who guide the children through various scenarios and challenges.

Cartown runs from June 5 to August 2, with sessions available from Wednesday to Sunday. The admission fee is $13 per child for groups of 1–5, or $12 per child for groups of 6–20. Non-residents are assessed an additional 20% on admission fees. Registration is required and can be done online at winnipeg.ca/leisureonline or by calling 311. There are also some sessions available in French.

Cartown is a fun and educational program that helps children develop their driving skills and awareness in a safe and entertaining environment. It is a great way to introduce them to the basics of road safety and prepare them for the future. If you are interested in booking a session for your kids or for a birthday party, don’t hesitate to register today.
