The University of Winnipeg’s Department of Theatre and Film concludes its season with a production of Will Eno’s “Oh, the Humanity and Other Good Intentions.” Directed by UWinnipeg alumna Suzie Martin, the Artistic Director of Theatre Projects Manitoba, the play runs at the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film from April 2 to 6, 2024.
“Oh, the Humanity” features a six-person ensemble acting as nine characters across five scenes. This chamber play explores the humor, beauty, and challenges of everyday life.
Suzie Martin, a graduate of UWinnipeg and the University of Alberta, remarks on the play’s themes: characters grapple with their desires and uncertainties, yearning for connection. She highlights the play’s exploration of communication struggles, where language both connects and creates distance. Martin emphasizes the play’s absurdist elements, where reality seems unreliable.
