Naval Museum of Manitoba
1 Navy Way
Wednesdays, 9:00 am-3:00 pm
This museum is an amazing place dedicated to the Royal Canadian Navy and its influence on Manitoba. Founded in 1980, it was first located in the former HMCS Chippawa building, but now it is located in the new HMCS Chippawa building, built in 1999 at 1 Navy Way in Winnipeg.
The museum’s mission is to promote the history of the Royal Canadian Navy by preserving and displaying many important artifacts, honoring its place in the development and protection of Canada and its people, and inspiring a desire for learning about the significant role played by Manitobans in the Navy’s unfolding drama. The museum displays “A Look to the Past, With a View to the Future!”

The museum’s collection includes documents, pictures, books, and military artifacts related to the Navy from the period of organization onwards. Not only does the museum preserve the history of the navy, but it also provides a training facility to teach Naval and HMCS Chippawa history. Additionally, it fosters an interest in the Navy, its activities, and accomplishments among the general public.
Affiliated with the CMA, the CHIN, and the Virtual Museum of Canada, the Naval Museum of Manitoba is an excellent destination for anyone interested in naval history and its influence on Manitoba.
