SUMMARY:A New Day @ The Forks
DESCRIPTION:Share This Story\n\nWe will be here on July 1st\, offering an open\, welcoming space for community to gather just as we’ve always done. This year we are also starting some new conversations and traditions to bring us all closer together. \nOodena and The Gathering Space in Niizhoziibean \nWe’ll open the day at 8AM with a morning ceremony led by Elders Wanbdi Wakita and Pahan Pte San Win in Oodena\, with additional pipe ceremonies held throughout the day. Both Oodena and The Gathering Space at Niizhoziibean will be maintained as quiet spaces for healing\, with Indigenous-led music\, dance\, and sacred fires. The last ceremony will be held at supper time. \nFrom 10AM to 6PM\, visit the Historic Rail Bridge (between Oodena and Niizhoziibean) to take part in tobacco tie workshops. \nThe article continues below \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nThroughout The Forks \nBeginning at 1PM\, there will be four small pop-up stages located throughout The Forks site with family-friendly\, multicultural entertainment including hands-on activities\, music\, theatre\, and dance. These will run until 5PM. \nCN Field and Stage \nThis is the place to meet and eat with each other\, with picnic tables in the field and food trucks nearby. Feel free to bring your own picnics! Visitors will be entertained by a Manitoba Music-curated playlist and engage in various games. This area will run until about 7PM. \nThe Forks National Historic Site \nCome watch the Manitoba African Cup of Nations Soccer Tournament which will be played all afternoon. Traditional and contemporary Indigenous games will also be here for everyone to try. \nThe Forks Market parking lot \nBike Valet Winnipeg will be set up in front of The Forks Market\, where there will also be a giant chalk station with bubbles for families to enjoy. \nFree Tours \nLearn more about The Forks and its history with an Oral History tour led by Elder Barb Nepinak (2PM) and a Target Zero Eco Tour (3PM) with Green Kids! The meet-up point is at Travel Manitoba. \nBusinesses Open \nAnd\, if you want to just come and hang out on the patios or grab some food all the businesses at The Forks are open as usual. \nWhy this event is replacing Canada Day Celebrations for this year (CBC News) CLICK HERE  \n[spacer height=”40px” id=”3″] \n\nUpcoming Events\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n 08\n January\n 2026\n \n \n \n \n Free Entry to Manitoba Parks for 1 Year Starting April 1\, 2025Free Entry to Manitoba Parks for a Year Starting April 1\, 2025 Free Entry ito \nFind out more\n \n \n \n Multiple Locations\,\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n 14\n April\n 2026\n \n \n \n \n Free Admission to Winnipeg Police MuseumThe Winnipeg Police Museum offers free admission and features artifacts dating back to the late 1800s\, vintage vehicles and motorcycles\, and stories highlighting the history and service of the Winnipeg Police Service\, located at 245 Smith Street and open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. \nFind out more\n \n \n \n Winnipeg Police Museum\,\n\n245 Smith St.\n	\n \n Winnipeg\,\n\n	Manitoba\n\n\n	Canada\n\n\n+ Google Map\n	\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n 15\n April\n 2026\n \n \n \n \n WAG Wednesday NightsWAG Wednesday Nights offers free admission every Wednesday evening from 5:00–9:00 PM at WAG-Qaumajuq\, starting January 2026\, with live music\, interactive activities\, and rotating cultural programming in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. \nFind out more\n \n \n \n Qaumajuq – Winnipeg Art Gallery\,\n\n300 Memorial Blvd.\n	\n \n Winnipeg\,\n\n	Manitoba\n\n\n	Canada\n\n\n+ Google Map\n	\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n 17\n April\n 2026\n \n \n \n \n Weekend Round-Up: 10+ Free Events in Winnipeg April 17-19A list of free things to do in Winnipeg during the weekend including activities for the family\, live music\, arts\, movies\, and more. \nFind out more\n \n \n \n Winnipeg\, Manitoba\,\n\n\n	Winnipeg\,\n\n	Manitoba\n\n\n	Canada\n\n\n+ Google Map\n	\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n 17\n April\n 2026\n \n \n \n \n Free Admission to Manitoba Sports Hall Of FameDiscover Manitoba’s sports history with free admission to the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in downtown Winnipeg.
