STRIKE 1919: OUR CAUSE IS JUST
CURATED BY ALEXANDRA KROEGER
RUNNING MAY 1 – SEPTEMBER 29 DURING OPEN HOURS (12-4 PM)
An exhibit celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike.
Dalnavert Museum has a unique connection with the 1919 General Strike through its former owner Sir Hugh John Macdonald who was the Police Magistrate during this time and firmly against the strike.
The exhibit uses this connection and the strike to explore issues such as justice, authority, violence, and how we can change the world. Our partners The Costume Museum of Canada and The Winnipeg Police Museum help tell this story through artifacts, period clothing and even items from the strike itself!
