Orange Shirt Days @ the Manitoba Museum features all-day programming focused on the history of Indian Residential Schools and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action. The event is presented in partnership with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. \nOrange Shirt Day\, recognized in Manitoba since 2017\, originated from the story of Phyllis Webstad of the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation. On her first day at St. Joseph Mission Indian Residential School\, her new orange shirt was taken away\, leaving her feeling worthless and insignificant.
