If you missed the excitement over the May 9-11 weekend\, there’s still plenty of action left to experience! \nPerfect Conditions for Viewing\nWith the sun and heat continuing this week\, expect high snake activity. The warmer temperatures will ensure that the snakes are out in full force\, making this one of the best times to visit the dens. \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\nActive Dens: All dens are now fully active\, with snake balls and wriggling masses visible throughout the area. The first den may be quieter\, but there’s still plenty to see. \n\n\nSnake Behavior: Most snakes remain inside the dens\, but you'll witness incredible mating behavior and large groups of snakes coming together. \n\n\nPeak Viewing: This week\, with optimal weather\, offers great chances to see the snakes during their most active period. \n\n\nWhat You Need to Know\n\n\nSafety: Stick to the marked trails and boardwalks for the best view while keeping a safe distance from the snakes. \n\n\nTiming: The warm weather this week will keep the snakes active\, making now the perfect time to visit. \n\n\n\n\nDon’t Miss Out\nEven though the weekend has passed\, this week remains a prime time for viewing the red-sided garter snakes. Don’t miss your chance to witness this extraordinary natural spectacle! For more details\, visit the official Narcisse Snake Dens website for parking\, safety\, and visitor tips. \nLocation: Look for the Narcisse Snake Dens sign on Highway #17\, 6 kilometres (3.6 miles) north of the town of Narcisse (GPS coordinates of 50o44’07.62” N and 97o31’54.32” W). Turn east at the entrance sign and follow the short road to the parking lot. Here you will find orientation and interpretation signs\, washrooms\, a picnic area and a 3.0 kilometre (1.8 mile) walking trail. The trail winds through native grassland and aspen forest\, and is easy to follow.
