Movies in the Park at Assiniboine Park 2026 returns this summer with free outdoor screenings on the Lyric Lawn — offering an unforgettable movie-night experience for families, couples, and film lovers across Winnipeg.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the park, this annual event features double-feature screenings, family-friendly films, and plenty of space to spread out with blankets and lawn chairs.
Audiences can enjoy the show on Manitoba’s largest outdoor screen while relaxing under the stars. The Lyric Theatre concession typically offers popcorn, ice cream treats, and classic movie-night snacks, making it easy to settle in for a full evening of entertainment.
With no admission cost, Movies in the Park is one of Winnipeg’s top free summer events and a highlight of the city’s August calendar.

Can I reserve my spot in advance?
We are not offering the opportunity to formally reserve space.
You are welcome to arrive as early as you'd like to claim a spot on the field. If you choose to leave chairs or other items to claim your spot, they will not be monitored so you do so at your own risk.
Can I bring a BBQ, camp stove, hibachi, or other cooking device?
No, please leave all cooking devices at home. You are welcome to pack a picnic in a small cooler or bag. Pre-cooked food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted throughout the Park.
Can I bring a chair?
Yes. Chairs must be single-person and collapsible. They must not be oversized, reclined, or have protruding leg rests.
Can I arrive after the set or show has started?
Yes, although we do recommend arriving early to get settled before the show.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages. We will also be selling food, snacks, and drinks at our concession stand at the Lyric Theatre.
Will food and drinks be available for purchase?
Yes. A concession at the Lyric Theatre will be open and selling hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, beverages, and much more!
The Leaf Coffee Bar serves grab-and-go beverages, snacks, lunches, and treats. Located in The Leaf, the coffee bar is accessible to all Park visitors, without admission to the biomes. Open daily, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
The Park Café Treats Window is located on the outside of the Park Café building near the Riley Family Duck Pond, and serves snacks, beverages, and ice cream for take-out. Open daily, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Can I bring a dog?
Yes! Pets are permitted on leash. Please clean up after your pets.
