If you’re looking for something to do with the family that isn't just another trip to the mall, you’ve gotta mark your calendars for Saturday, April 25.

I’ve been following the Manitoba Robot Games for a while now, and honestly? It’s one of the coolest things happening in the city. Think of it like a high-tech track meet, but with more gears and slightly less running.

It’s held right in the Hornet Dome at Tec-Voc (1555 Wall Street), and—in true Winnipeg fashion—it’s completely free for spectators to walk in and watch.

🚀 What’s the Vibe?

It’s basically a massive day of robots battling it out. There are 17 different competitions happening, and the energy is wild.

You’ll see everything from:

  • “Mini-Sumo” (where robots try to shove each other out of a ring)
  • Technical challenges where they have to solve problems on the fly

The best part? It’s all local students and hobbyists who’ve spent months hunched over soldering irons and laptops.

There are even cash prizes on the line, so the “pit areas” get pretty intense when a motor decides to quit five minutes before a match!
