Celebrate Louis Riel Day with us on Monday, February 19, for a day filled with family-friendly festivities. The day’s events will be inside and outside throughout The Forks site, running from 11am – 4:30pm.  

Here’s the scoop:  

  • Special Kid’s Menus
    The Forks Market | 11am – 4pmOpen to kids of all ages, participating food vendors of The Forks Market are getting creative by designing menus specially curated for kids. And though playing with your food is never encouraged, playing while you eat is a whole different story! Dive into your delicious meal alongside a selection of board games provided by the local event company, Fête Jockey, transforming the dining experience into an exciting game-filled zone!
  • Arts and Crafts with Art City
    EQ3 Lounge | 11am – 4pmCreate your own artwork using natural materials and mixed meida and exchange it for other pieces of artwork that’ll be displayed at Art City’s Trading Post in the EQ3 Lounge. Make art to trade art, and immerse yourself in an interactive afternoon brimming with creativity and connection.
  • Mini Dance Battles with GeNie Baffoe
    Outside, by The Canopy | 11am – 4pmHeat things up with GeNie Baffoe in fun dance battles, inviting kiddos to showcase their dance skills, learn new moves, and express themselves creatively.

  • Skating Lessons | Learn to Winter
    Outside, by The Canopy | 11am – 3pmEnjoy free skaing lessons offered by Winnipeg Trails Association! Bring your own skates if you have them, or rent a pair from Iceland Skate Rentals.
  • Warmig Hut Tours | Learn to Winter
    Outisde, Meeting in The Market | 11am, 1pm, 3pmOn this guided tour, you’ll explore and learn more about the six new Warming Huts at The Forks, plus other fan favourites from previous winters.



  • Teepee Storytelling | Learn to Winter
    Outside, in the Teepee | 12pm – 4pmJoin Elder Barbara Nepinak around the fire in the teepee for stories and drumming.
  • Mama Cutsworth’s Family Dance Party
    Room 201 | 12pm – 4pmBe part of the joyful, multi-generational experience known as Mama Cutsworth’s Family Dance Party! You can expect to hear soul, indie pop, disco, reggae, samba, Afrobeat, perhaps even a polka. This show is non-stop interactive, featuring a slew of dance games for kids of all ages, as well as a couple special guests!




  • Free Dance Lessons with Royal Dance at The Forks
    Royal Dance at The Forks (second floor of The Forks Market) | 2pm – 3pmExperience a complimentary dance session at Royal Dance at The Forks! Tailored to kiddos aged 3-6 and open to all, this program will explore ballet, jazz, and creative movement styles.
  • Al Simmons’ Sounds Crazy Caboose Warming Hut
    Outside, by The Canopy | 4pm – 4:30pmJoin Al Simmons by the canopy where he’ll be showing off and playing his Sounds Crazy Caboose, the eclectic and fun warming hut that he created!
