Intro to 16mm + In Camera Editing w/ Lily Jue Sheng

This workshop focuses on teaching the basics of 16mm, with an emphasis on the diary filmmaking style. Participants will learn how to operate a Bolex camera, storyboard an in-camera edit structure, shoot a roll of black & white 7222 Double-X, and get to watch their films projected on 16mm at the end.
Lily Jue Sheng is an artist/filmmaker whose work concentrates on moving image and collage forms. Their recent screenings include: International Film Festival Rotterdam, Beijing International Short Film Festival, True/False Film Festival, 25 FPS Festival, RIDM Montreal International Documentary Festival, and Winnipeg Underground Festival. Their recent exhibitions, performances, and online works include: seen only, heard only through someone else’s description at McEvoy Foundation for the Arts, Doc 008: Interlude Docs, Open Air Screening Series at Mono No Aware, and Five Movements at The Poetry Project. They received a Jerome Foundation Artist Fellowship and residencies at the Anderson Center and NARS Foundation.
