Event Description
On Thursday, November 11, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.
To honour the men and women who have sacrificed for our country, the City of Winnipeg will be offering free transit service on November 11 to Veterans, active duty personnel and their accompanying friends and family. Those who wish to use this free service may do so by displaying one of the following to the Bus Operator:
- a military identification,
- a CF1 card, or
- wearing a military uniform.
When displaying one of the above, the individual only needs to identify to the operator each friend or family member accompanying him or her.
Winnipeg Transit will be observing a moment of silence in honour of Remembrance Day. At 11 a.m., Transit operators will pull over and stop their buses at safe locations to recognize one minute of silence.
Throughout the day the route/destination signs on the front of buses will scroll with the message “Lest We Forget” in addition to the usual route information in honour of Remembrance Day.
