The Freeze Frame International Film Festival is running March 4th to March 11th this year. A staff favourite film: The Day My Father Became a Bush (Toen Mijn Vader Een Struik Werd) will be playing at the Cinematheque.
Toda’s father, a pastry chef, is called to fight when war breaks out in their country. Our young protagonist is sent to stay with her mother who lives in a neighbouring land. But journeys are never simple during wartimes! Luckily Toda is a plucky girl and she doesn’t give up easily.
A very unique film with a great script, directed with just the perfect touch! This charming story is told from a young girl’s perspective and the actress playing Toda is astounding. It all makes for a truly fascinating story!
This film is rated G, and appropriate for all audiences.
