Earth Day @ Fort Whyte Alive

Let’s celebrate the earth together!
Join us for live entertainment, environmental workshops and exciting outdoor activities. Help us celebrate the planet with lessons in sustainability, special programming at FortWhyte Farms and a chance to explore the site at no cost — admission is free all day!

Celebrate Earth Day with us at the Nature Shop by buying local! Save on items made in Manitoba or Canada. FortWhyte Alive Members save 15% and guests save 10%. *($)

All activities are free of charge to participate in, and are family friendly!
Archery    11 am – 3 pm
Archers & Bowhunters Association of Manitoba (ABAM) will be on site teaching archery
Location: between FortWhyte Farms and the Alloway Reception Centre

Atl Atl   12 – 3 pm

Edible Wild Hikes   12 pm and 1 pm
Location: Meet at the Sod House Gate at the above times

Learn about our Prairie History   12:30 – 3 pm
Location: Tipi Encampment

Orienteering  11 am – 3 pm
Manitoba Orienteering Association (MOA) will be on site leading Orienteering
Location: Pathway between Alloway Reception Centre and Interpretive Centre

Guided Bison Hikes   12:15pm, 1pm, 1:45pm, 2:30pm
Location: Meet at the Red River Cart at the above time

Sod House Pioneers  12 – 4 pm
Location: Sod House

Birding Hike  10:30 am and 11:30 am
Location: Meet at the Toboggan Slide at the above times

Carnival Games   10 – 3 pm
Location: Interpretive Centre Back Deck

BBQ Lunch & Snacks   11 am – 3 pm *($)

Weather Talks 12 – 2 pm
Location: Behind the Interpretive Centre, to the right of the patio

Craft Station 11 – 2 pm
Location: Inside the Main Theatre of the Interpretive Centre

Public Art Piece 1 – 3 pm
Art City will be on site to facilitate the creation of a public art piece

Historical Display
Manitoba Living History Society will be on site to offer an interpretive display

The following exhibitors will be on site to share information surrounding sustainability, outdoor recreation and environmental education initiatives!

Mother Earth Recycling will be picking up unwanted electronics and computers, to be properly recycled! Bring yours along with you to drop off at their booth!

By bike: Get active! Act sustainably! Take part in a group bike ride to FortWhyte Alive. Exciting details from Bike Winnipeg coming soon!
Bike Valet Winnipeg  will be on site to offer FREE bike valet, ensuring your bike is kept safe and secure during your visit to FortWhyte!
By bus: Three pick up locations available. Pick up is at 11am at all locations, with loading for the final return trip from FortWhyte at 2:30pm. Check in with a FortWhyte Park and Ride Volunteer at your chosen location to load the bus.
Kildonan Place Mall — Please park in the designated Park and Ride location
Polo Park Mall — Park on South side of mall, along Portage Avenue
Outlet Collection Winnipeg — Park and ride with Outlet Collection! Please park on the North side of the parking lot closest to the Food Hall – Doors 5+6 (map) // Round trips happen every ~20 minutes between 11am and 2:30 pm. Final boarding to OC from FWA is at 2:30 pm.
By car: Carpooling is strongly encouraged, as parking is limited, and emissions can be reduced! Let’s celebrate the planet! Check out Go Manitoba to arrange a car pool to FortWhyte for Earth Day, or any other time!
