Gimli Icelandic Festival: A Celebration of Icelandic Heritage

The Gimli Icelandic Festival, also known as Islendingadagurinn, is a vibrant celebration of Icelandic culture, heritage, and community spirit. Held annually from August 2-5, 2024, in the picturesque town of Gimli, Manitoba, the festival offers a unique blend of entertainment, food, and cultural activities for all ages.

The Gimli Icelandic Festival offers free admission, allowing attendees to freely explore the festival grounds and enjoy many of the activities and attractions. However, some specific events and activities  require a fee such as the Midway Rides, the fashion show and some performances. Long lineups are expected for some activities and entertainment. You can purchase a limited Odin’s Festival Pass for 2023 and cut the lines, crowds, and costs. Enjoy priority seating at their live music and performance events with the Odin’s Festival Pass. Depending on event seating format, priority standing room and/or seats will be reserved for you.

● Live Music and Entertainment: Enjoy live performances at the Gimli Harbour Stage, including the much-anticipated Friday Night at the Harbour.

● Craft and Food Vendors: Explore a variety of local crafts and delicious food options at Gimli Harbour, open daily throughout the Gimli Icelandic Festival.

● Vingólf Beverage Gardens: Relax and unwind with friends and family at the beverage gardens, featuring a selection of drinks and live music.

● Wonder Shows Midway & Rides: Thrill-seekers can enjoy exciting rides and games at Gimli Park, perfect for kids and adults alike. Fee applies

● Viking Battle: Witness the excitement of Viking battles at Harbour Park Hill, a must-see for history enthusiasts.

Family-Friendly Activities:

● Children’s Entertainment: From petting zoos to big games, there’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained.

● Sandcastle Contest: Show off your creativity at the Gimli Beach North sandcastle contest.

● Running Races: Participate in the 1 Mile, 5K, or 10 Mile races and enjoy the scenic routes around Gimli. Fee applies for races

Cultural Experiences:

● Icelandic Fashion Show: Discover traditional Icelandic attire and modern interpretations at the Gimli Theatre. Fee applies

● Art Show: Visit the Lakeview Resort to see stunning artworks from local and international artists.
