Hey there, Winnipeg! Calling all those who want to give back to the community, learn a new skill, and have a ton of fun in the process! This summer, Habitat for Humanity Manitoba is hosting their August Blitz Build and they need YOU (yes, you!) to help make it a success.

What is a Blitz Build?

Imagine this: an action-packed, four-day construction blitz where you team up with 50 other amazing volunteers to build homes for deserving families in Winnipeg. Over the course of the week (August 13th-16th), you’ll witness firsthand the incredible impact your efforts have. The energy will be contagious, the atmosphere supportive, and the experience truly unforgettable.

Why Should You Volunteer?

Here are just a few reasons why you should consider signing up for the Blitz Build:

● Make a Difference: You’ll be helping to build affordable homes for hard-working Manitoba families. This means a safe and secure place for them to raise their children and build a brighter future.

● Learn New Skills: Even if you’ve never stepped foot on a construction site before, no worries! Habitat Manitoba provides all the training and equipment you need. You could be learning to frame walls, install joists, or hone other valuable construction skills.

● Work with Professionals: Experienced contractors will be there to guide you every step of the way, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.

● Build Lasting Friendships: Working alongside other passionate volunteers is a great way to meet new people who share your desire to give back.

● It’s Just Plain Fun! Let’s be honest, there’s a certain satisfaction that comes from working hard and seeing the tangible results of your efforts. The Blitz Build is a chance to get outside, be active, and have a blast while doing something incredibly worthwhile.

What You Need to Know:

  • No experience necessary! Habitat Manitoba provides everything you need.
  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Commit to at least one full day.
  • Complete a quick online safety training course.
  • Be able to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Have good mobility and understand conversational English.
