You may want to drop your CAA membership. Two weeks ago I was at Canadian Tire and one of their employees asked me if I wanted to sign up for the Triangle World Elite MasterCard and I agreed because of the free roadside assistance. Approval took only a few seconds.
IMPORTANT: Free Roadside Assistance Gold Plan is only for Triangle World Elite Mastercard. Other Triangle Mastercards do not have this plan.
Taking a quick look, the number of service calls are very similar, Triangle allows 5 service calls, while CAA allows 4-5 depending on which membership plan you choose. With Triangle, tows have a 250 km limit, and they are unlimited if you tow to any Canadian Tire Auto Service Centre (within your towing limits). On the other hand CAA has a 10 km limit with their Classic plan, 200 km for their Plus plan. Fuel delivery will cost you $5 for Triangle’s plan, with CAA it’s free. If you drop CAA, however, you lose membership benefits including Bike Assist, discounts on insurance and discounts on event tickets. Because I don’t use those benefits often I’m ok with losing them. It might be different for you however. Personally, I won’t be renewing my CAA membership.
